When to visit Montreal
The period between the Months of March to May might not be the best period to visit Montreal, especially climate-wise, but it might as well be considered ideal for a visit to Montreal from looked from the perspective of a number of other features other than climate. This is the period when temperatures are recovering from winter below-zero temperatures. It is also the same time when hotel rates are beginning to fall. It might still be slight chilly but not much to impede any movement as is the case with winter temperature. There is still much fun to indulge in at this period. For instance, one can decide to visit the Montreal St. Patrick parade, Vue Sur la Releve Festival, Montreal Tango festival among other key events and festivities in Montreal at this period. It is however advisable to come with a pair of boots for the remaining snow. By the time the month of June knocks in temperature have normalized while the snow has disappeared.
The period between June and August is normally the best period to visit Montreal, especially climate-wise. This is because at this period the snow has disappeared completely and the weather is generally warm. Although it might be chilly in the dark, temperature might hover in the mid 70s and upper 70s but not beyond 80. There are some people who might claim that it might be too warm in July which I do not dispute. However, the multiplicity of festivals and other outdoors summer events taking place almost on a weekly basis will keep you so glued up to even feel the scotching summer heat. You might find the place a bit crowded and hectic especially in the numerous festivals which normally attract large crowd at this period, which therefore tells you to be prepared for heavy and at time disgusting crowds. The good thing with visiting Montreal in summer is that you can make strolls on foot which is much enjoyable than with a van as would entail in winter. In case you are planning to visit Montreal this period makes sure that you book a couple of weeks earlier to guarantee hotel availability and pocket friendly room rates. Visiting Montreal this period gives one a chance to visit festival and events like Formula One: Grand prix of Canada, Montreal Pride, Montreal International Jazz Festival, and Montreal International Dragon Boat Race Festival to name but a few of summer festivals.
Though there are still some tourists who prefer visiting Montreal between December and March in order to sample the various winter festivals and activities, the snow might be a bit overwhelming to a point of restricting movements, not to mention below-zero temperature that might further restrict movements. This is the main feature that makes this period not the best period to visit Montreal, especially climate-wise. Therefore if you are planning to visit Montreal this winter don't be cowed, the city is still magical and spackling, with lots and lots of festivals and activities waiting for you. You don't even have to worry about shopping in falling snow and extreme cold because you can as well do it in the Underground City.
